Hope You All Made It Through Sandy

Just talked with a friend of mine who lives on Staten Island and he just had his power turned on this afternoon. Plenty of damage, he said. Watching on TV and the Internet scenes of Staten Island, lower Manhattan and New Jersey and it is sobering and horrific.

Reminds me of the devastation in New Orleans after Katrina.

I just want to reach out to my readers to let you know you’re in my prayers and thoughts. Some of you I only know from your screen name, but you’re all important to me and I wish nothing but the best for you and your families.

Marquis wants to be a Met ….

At 31, he has mileage left. He was an All-Star last season, so we know there is talent. He’s 94-83 during his ten-year career, which is the definition of a middle-tier pitcher the Mets reportedly will pursue this winter.

And, Jason Marquis, who grew up in Staten Island, told Bart Hubbuch of the Post he wants to play with the Mets.

“There’s definitely interest there,’’ Marquis said. “We’ll see what direction they want to go. … It would always be nice to come back home and represent your hometown.’’

Marquis went as far as to call it an “honor’’ to pitch for the Mets.
