Tonight’s line-up ….

Salvage is a word I’ve used more than a few times this season. I’ll use it again tonight as that’s what the Mets will attempt to do against the Braves. They’ve lost the first two in this series and seven straight against the Braves.

Here’s the line-up Mike Pelfrey hopes will score him enough runs to dig himself out of whatever hole he gets into tonight:

Angel Pagan, LF
Luis Castillo, 2B
David Wright, 3B
Carlos Beltran, CF
Daniel Murphy, 1B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Brian Schneider, C
Anderson Hernandez, SS
Mike Pelfrey, RP

NOTE: Pelfrey is 0-2 with an 8.74 ERA in his two starts this season against the Braves.

METS CHAT ROOM: Game #149; another look at Maine and peeking in at the Jets.

One of the Mets’ most important off-season decisions will be about John Maine. Just getting through five could help answer some questions.

Maine (5-5, 4.45 ERA) is making his second start since returning from the disabled list. He threw three innings against the Phillies last weekend. Today, just as was the case last week, results don’t matter as much as just making it through the day.

Here’s the batting order:

Angel Pagan, LF
Luis Castillo, 2B
David Wright, 3B
Carlos Beltran, CF
Daniel Murphy, 1B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Josh Thole, C
Wilson Valdez, SS
John Maine, RP

My attention will be diverted over to the Meadowlands to watch the Jets against those cheatin’ Patriots. There’s just something annoying about the Patriots. They have an arrogance about them that rivals that of the Yankees. It all stems from the head coach.

The Jets did a lot of talking this week. Let’s see if they can walk the walk.

METS CHAT ROOM: Game #148; Losing streak at six.

CHAT ROOM

Good afternoon folks. It’s such a beautiful afternoon and with two such ugly teams, I imagine things could be quiet this afternoon. I’ll still check in to see if there’s a pulse.

Tim Redding, stopper, pitches today for the Mets in an effort to snap their losing streak at six games. Whether he does or doesn’t, it really doesn’t matter anymore. Kind of sad, actually. I would rather have them lose it the last week than go through the motions.

Here’s the line-up:

Angel Pagan, CF
Luis Castillo, 2B
David Wright, 3B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Fernando Tatis, LF
Daniel Murphy, 1B
Wilson Valdez, SS
Josh Thole, C
Tim Redding (2-6, 5.52 ERA), RP

METS CHAT ROOM: Game #147; Delgado officially done.

Not that this is a surprise to anyone, but Carlos Delgado is done for the year. Several setbacks with his back, said Jerry Manuel. I don’t see him ever wearing a Mets uniform again.

The Mets open a three game series against Washington tonight. Here’s the line-up that will try to overcome Mike Pelfrey’s inconsistencies:

Angel Pagan, LF
Luis Castillo, 2B
David Wright, 3B
Carlos Beltran, CF
Daniel Murphy, 1B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Brian Schneider, C
Wilson Valdez, SS
Mike Pelfrey (10-10, 5.09 ERA), RP

Mets Chat Room: Game #145; Parnell gets the ball.

CHAT ROOM

Hi guys and gals. I hope you caught my earlier post on Bobby Parnell. If you’ve got something to add, do it here. Would love to talk with you.

Anyway, he gets the ball tonight with no promises from his manager he’ll get it again if he struggles. That’s the last thing he needs. When Jerry Manuel says stuff like that about a young player it can only add to the pressure. When he says it about a veteran, he can handle it better because he knows the ropes.

Anyway, I think Parnell should keep getting the ball because that’s the only way he can improve. Like I said earlier, Manuel’s waffling damages his confidence more than anything the Braves will do tonight.

Here’s the line-up:

Luis Castillo, 2B
Josh Thole, C
David Wright, 3B
Carlos Beltran, CF
Daniel Murphy, 1B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Jeremy Reed, LF
Wilson Valdez, SS
Bobby Parnell, RP
