Bay goes on DL

Jason Bay was placed on the disabled list and Jesus Feliciano was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo. As the days passed with no improvement in his concussion symptoms it was a no-brainer Bay would go on the DL.

The Mets played this one conservatively from the outset, beginning when Bay complained of headaches on the flight back from the West Coast last Sunday, two days after running into a wall at Dodger Stadium. The Mets took a lot of heat, and justifiably so, for their handling of Ryan Church’s concussion in 2008.

Bay likely for DL

It is expected Jason Bay will be placed on the disabled list today with lingering concussion symptoms and likely will be replaced by Jesus Feliciano.

Bay going on the DL means it is less likely the Mets will deal Jeff Francoeur this weekend. However, if the Mets slide out of contention expect Francoeur to be dealt in August in a waiver trade.

Tonight’s lineup vs. Marlins; Pagan out again.

Angel Pagan still has some soreness in his right side that makes it uncomfortable to hit left-handed. That’s why Jesus Feliciano pinch-hit for him last night and was in center field on the game winning hit, and why he’s not in the lineup tonight against righty Chris Volstad.

Here’s tonight’s lineup vs. Marlins:

Jose Reyes, SS

Jesus Feliciano, CF

David Wright, 3B

Ike Davis, 1B

Jason Bay, LF

Chris Carter, RF

Rod Barajas, C

Alex Cora, 2B

Mike Pelfrey, RP
