What's on your mind?
I’ve done “Loose Threads,” several times. It’s a catch-all post where I invite you to say what ever is on your mind. I mean, there’s got to be more to life than the Mets, especially with nothing going on.
Sitting at home tonight waiting for the Great Blizzard of 2009. So far, not a flake. Very cold, no snow. No sense going out to the movies, so I’ll stay in tonight and put Casablanca in the DVD player. My favorite movie. I’m watching it again because I don’t get the NFL Network and can’t watch the undefeated Saints. With most of the mid-Atlantic snowbound, it would have been a nice Christmas present.
I’ve never been a fan of the vanity networks. The NFL, in particular, has milked billions from the networks, and by extension the public. Does it really need a network of its own? I’m just waiting for the day when the NFL will put its playoff games on its own network. It has to be coming soon.
Well, that’s on my mind right now. If you want to comment on it, feel free. If you want to comment on the something about the Mets that hasn’t been mentioned, go there. Football? Fine. The Knicks or Celtics? Sure.
Politics? I wish you wouldn’t for obvious reasons.
I like the idea of giving you guys a forum. I just haven’t figured out the best way to do it when it’s not about the Mets.
I’ll have something for you in the morning, and later tonight if the Mets do something.
Good morning ….
It’s still dark outside. The only thing making it light is the reflection of the street lights off the snow. Damn snow. I know these are the winter meetings, but still. Let is snow on Christmas, then melt the day after.
I’m going to head over to the press room soon. Stop at a McDonald’s for an Egg McMuffin, which is the world’s most perfect food.
There’s a lot to the winter meetings. For me this year it is to network and let people know I’m still alive and kicking and feed the blog. It will be unlike any winter meetings I’ve attended because of my situation.
But, I’ll keep you informed.
With apologies to some Christmas songs, maybe Opening Day is the best time of the year. There’s the feeling of hope and dreams. There’s something special and fresh about Opening Day.
My favorite Opening Day was when my father took my brother and I out of school to see Opening Day in Cleveland against Baltimore. School wasn’t crazy about the reason but he took us out anyway.
Nasty weather in Cincinnati, but the feeling is they’ll play.
Here’s the Mets’ batting order:
SS Jose Reyes
LF Daniel Murphy
3B David Wright
1B Carlos Delgado
CF Carlos Beltran
RF Ryan Church
C Brian Schneider
2B Luis Castillo
LH Johan Santana
Has been an eventful few days. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and are bracing for the New Year. Just pulled in from visiting my family in Ohio. Decided to drive. Yup. That was a mistake. Should have sucked it up and gone with the flight. But, not working full time has me thinking about saving the bucks.
Lousy weather before the trip has leaks coming in later. Buckets all over the place. Gift card from Home Depot came in handy.
Have been busy which explains the lull in posting the past week. But, there’s been a lull with the Mets, too.
Last I checked, they were hot after Derek Lowe. Their fourth starter priorities are Lowe, Oliver Perez and Randy Wolf. I thought Lowe would end up back with the Red Sox. Didn’t think the Mets would go that hard for him, but they are tired of Perez’s inconsistency.
From T-shirts to caps to door mats to Christmas tree ornaments, this afternoon at the mall I’ve seen the Mets’ logo on more things than I could ever imagine.
How about you? Where’s the most unique object you’ve seen with a Mets’ logo?
