Your suggestions welcome

My name is on the blog, but it really belongs to you. In a previous post, I received a suggestion I’ll on how to make things easier to read. Thanks.

I am still learning the technical aspects of the blog, such as photos, links and blog rolls. There will be more art and audio. One of the things I was considering was a short podcast prior to Mets Chat Room. Kind of like a pre-game show.

If there is anything you’d like to see style, aesthetics and content wise please let me know. I’m learning on the fly and will try to get to everything eventually.

One other thing, Joe McDonald, who has put this together with me wants me to consider a New York Giants and Major League Baseball blogs (yes, it would include Yankee content). Your thoughts?

Mets Chat Room: Putting away the Nats Edition.

How many times must it be said? The Washington Nationals trail the Mets by 25 1/2 games in the NL East. There’s a reason for that. They aren’t good. The Mets had their hands full last night because Oliver Perez couldn’t put them away.

The Mets can’t count on two homers from Carlos Delgado and ten runs every night. This division will be won by pitching and Mike Pelfrey is the story tonight. Then again, that’s not a bulletin.

Mets Chat Room: Delgado picks up Perez.

Mets manager Jerry Manuel said Oliver Perez has pitched so well lately that he’ll let this one slide. He can afford to because Carlos Delgado is playing up to the MVP chants.

It wasn’t a good night for Perez, but Delgado hit two more homers and has 24 in his last 66 games to lead the majors.

For awhile tonight it appeared as if Perez would kick this one away, but Delgado’s two homers and one by Carlos Beltran carried the Mets to a 10-8 victory over the Nationals to increase their lead over Philly to 2 1/2 games.

Kudos also to the bullpen. It has been hot in September, but tell the truth, aren’t you holding your breath?

For those who were with me tonight, many thanks. The Room is open all night.-JD

Mets Chat Room, Game #2: Needing Santana.

Johan Santana needs to earn his money tonight. The Mets have dropped two straight to the Phillies, and if they lose tonight they are tied for first and don’t think for a moment thoughts of the collapse won’t resurface, if they haven’t already.

“That’s why you have a Johan,’’ manager Jerry Manuel said. “We’re not quite clicking like we were. It’s unfortunate come home after a good road trip and not be clicking.

“Hopefully, Johan can keep us in the game.”

I would hope the expectations are higher than that.

Mets Chat Room, Game #1: What’s up with Pedro?

Mets vs. Phillies. Game two of three. Winning both would be great. Winning one is essential.

Pedro Martinez is going in the first game, and I’m concerned about him. He downplays velocity, but let’s face it, he’s not throwing exceptionally hard. Sooner or later, it has to be on his mind. Definitely, it has to be an issue.

With three weeks remaining, Martinez’s spot in the rotation will come up at least four more times, and the Mets aren’t in position to throw away four starts.

I really want to see what he has today.
