I don’t know what the Mets are going to do in center field, but I am hoping one of the options isn’t to force feed Fernando Martinez at the position.
MARTINEZ: Likely to be force-fed CF with Beltran out.
Martinez, needs a healthy, uninterrupted season at Triple-A to get a better feel for his progress. We’ve heard a lot about his potential, but he’s been sidetracked by injuries. While with the Mets, he’s shown flashes but nothing warranting a full season in the majors.
But, I don’t think that will happen. He’ll probably be up here.
As much as I wanted them to go after Rick Ankiel – and I know of the opposition of that on this blog – it’s a long shot at best.
They’re likely to get a role player to share time with Angel Pagan, and, of course, Martinez.
We had a pretty good post the other night on the Mets’ prospects. A lot of good exchanges. Then the smack started flying and it wasn’t pretty. I’m no prude, but when I get emails from people complaining about the tone of conversations going on then I have to say something.
I certainly don’t want to censure comments, but I can’t have that kind of talk on here. It’s offensive to others and I don’t want to lose them as readers, either. So, please keep it clean. If somebody says something that ticks you off, just take the high ground. If somebody is getting on your case, email me: email@example.com.
And, it’s not just being crude. It’s the insults, too, and perhaps that’s even worse. This is supposed to be a debate and different opinions are encouraged. I really mean that. But, if somebody doesn’t agree with you, there’s no need to attack that person.
There are kids on this blog and I’m sending editors to this site for evaluation. I don’t want them to be exposed to that. I respect your input and I’ve talked with several of you via email when comments got cut before. I don’t want to cut, but fair warning it is crude and vulgar and insulting, I’ll have no other choice.
Please respect what I’m trying to do and keep it clean. When you guys are on your game I’m proud of this blog, but I can’t have what happened the other night.
The World Series is over, so as promised I’ll be doing some things to improve the blog. I want to make it more visually appealing and also adding more in the terms of content.
As you see, today I was able to post a poll, of which there will be more of in the future. I’m also working on doing more writing and have more standard items, things you can expect to see on a regular basis.
I got some static during the World Series about writing on the Yankees. I want you to know during the Hot Stove season there might be posts that don’t always feature the Mets, but I will try to get a Met angle into the story.
There will also be an increase in links to other blogs, as well as links to other sites. Once a new feature is added I’ll have a post directing you to it.
I saw the numbers and they are improving. Considering I’m not affiliated with a media vehicle they are actually pretty decent. But, they can be better, which is why I won’t be complacent and try to improve as much as I can.
There is a core of followers to the blog, some from when I was working at that paper. Your input is always valuable. If you have suggestions and don’t want to post them, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
After the World Series I plan to re-design the blog. After a slow period this summer, I’ve started to write more and do more things. I will continue to increase the content in a variety of ways and also would like to change the appearance.
If there’s anything you would like to see in the form of content or appearance, or any suggestions you might have, they would be greatly appreciated.
