Lucas Duda (strained left intercostal muscle) was supposed to get in a game Friday, but reports are the Mets will hold him back to Saturday or Sunday. Duda has been sidelined for three weeks and only recently started taking live batting practice.
I have no problems with this, as it is important there are no setbacks. If there are, the Mets would be left without a first baseman and unless they go outside the organization, Eric Campbell and/or Michael Cuddyer would play. However, this would create a need for a left power bat.
Closer Bobby Parnell (strained left hamstring) has also been held back to this weekend. As it is, Parnell will open the season on the disabled list with Jenrry Mejia penciled in to fill the closer role.
