Mets Chat Room; Dickey needs to pick up Mets.

Game #94 at Diamondbacks

At 6-3, Dickey has more than just filled in the gaping hole in the Mets’ rotation caused by the injuries to John Maine and Oliver Perez.

With his dancing knuckleball, he gave the Mets’ rotation a different look and was able to confound National League hitters by winning his first six decisions.

Dickey has come back to Earth record wise, losing his last three decisions, but with a little run support he could easily have three more victories.

The Mets need him again tonight in a big way. They are 1-4 in the second half, but should be 0-5. After a hot June that vaulted them back into the race, the Mets are 5-10 in July and fading.

  1. FIRST INNING: Jason Bay’s nighmarish season continues. He whiffs with the bases loaded. They can’t afford to waste these opportunities.-JD

  2. BOTTOM FOURTH INNING: Beltran misplayed the Parra triple. He used to be able to run that ball down. He hasn’t been able to turn it on defensively with his speed. A couple of balls got by him in the gap in San Francisco.-JD

  3. BOTTOM SEVENTH: Dickey has given the Mets seven strong. He’s given them a chance, but one again he hasn’t been given any run support.-JD

  4. A QUICK WRAP/Game #94

    FINAL: Diamondbacks 3, Mets 2.
    RECORD: 49-45.
THUMBNAIL ANALYSIS: RA Dickey lost his fourth straight decision, but pitched well enough to win.
ON THE MOUND: Dickey gave up three runs on seven hits in seven innings.
AT THE PLATE: Josh Thole and Angel Pagan homered.
IN THE FIELD: Carlos Beltran misplayed and couldn’t track down a long fly that became a triple.
LOOKING AHEAD: Jon Niese tomorrow night.-JD

  5. 8. the kid catches dickey well and has a decently consistent bat. why they would ship him off is beyond me.
As for beltran, his bat maybe ok. but he has a long way to be the centerfield magic..
