Castillo to DL; tonight’s lineup

Second baseman Luis Castillo was placed on the 15-day disabled list and Ruben Tejada was promoted from Class AAA Buffalo.

Manager Jerry Manuel said Tejada would get a bulk of the playing time, beginning tonight against the Marlins.

  2. SteveC (1): Cora was doing well and there wouldn’t be a dropoff, but the Mets’ thinking is they don’t want to waste the young guy by sitting him on the bench.-JD

  3. Barajas should be the clean up hitter but Manuel doesn’t recognize greatness when it is squatting 60’6″ from the pitching mound.

    ESPN Classic is showing game 7 of the 1987 World Series. Goodness gracious, that is a horrible lineup the Cards sent out. Jim Lindeman at first and batting cleanup. Jose Oquendo in right. Tony Pena DH. Tom Lawless at 3B. Steve Lake catching. Pitching and winning for the Twins is future Met Frank Viola, saving is former Met Jeff Reardon.
