Mets Chat Room: Keeping it going on the road.

GAME #49 at Brewers

The Mets open a six-game road trip tonight at Milwaukee, which has only won six games this season at home.

Coincidentally, the Mets have only won six games this season on the road.

However, they are hot, winners of five straight, with the last three shutouts over Philadelphia. The Mets have been doing it with pitching, solid defense and timely hitting. They’ve been fundamentally sound, and fundamentals play anywhere.

Johan Santana (4-2, 3.41) gets the ball for the Mets. He is coming off a strong effort, 7 2/3 innings last Sunday against the Yankees.

Santana is 4-3 with a 3.53 lifetime ERA against the Brewers in ten starts.

Here’s tonight’s line-up:

Jose Reyes, SS
Alex Cora, 2B
Jason Bay, LF
Ike Davis, 1B
David Wright, 3B
Angel Pagan, CF
Rod Barajas, C
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Johan Santana, LP

NOTEBOOK: Carlos Beltran has still not been cleared to run full speed and begin baseball activities. There is no timetable for his return, but one can assume it won’t be before the All-Star break. … Jon Niese will begin a rehab assignment tomorrow at Port St. Lucie.

  1. The Mets were so good with RISP on the Philly series. Made a lot of productive outs. That grounder by Reyes with the bases loaded wasn’t the case.-JD

  2. i like that they were able to not score with the bases loaded and no outs.

it shows the mets have learned their lessons well

  3. Santana always seems to be in a game like this. I hope they can pull it out for him this time.

  4. dave (19): When you’re consistently around the plate, you’re going to get those calls. … Damn, another no-decision for Santana.-JD

  6. I am sorry did we just get beat by willie and the jacket?
and did their pitcher pitch well over 100 pitches. i think I saw i think i saw…

I believe M&M have no interest in any kind of real winning streak. I think they want to show they have a bullpen worthy of the 70’s and 80’s … burn em out and they will be as useless as last night.
Pelfrey earned a complete game and was taken out… Santana absolutely earned a complete game and he was taken out. did you see him on the bench.. every pitch he winced…
This is supposed to encourage players and pitchers how??? oh yeah like i have always said. No matter how damned well you are pitching.. 100 means your done..
and 150 is way out and will never happen on M&M’s watch…
