  1. Since when do the Mets care about character issues? Meyers could be the power arm out of the pen to set up K-Rod.

  2. Myers called Cole Hamels a loser. Gotta give him some love for that. I like the idea of him as a set up man. He looked real good doing that in last years postseason.

  3. Ed In Westchester (1) Domestic Violence? Why even mention him? Those guys never learn…

  4. 4/5. Don’t gotta give anything but disrespect for a guy who beats his wife in the street. Don’t want them on my team, don’t want them in baseball. Fully agree with Ed and Dan on this one.

  5. sure. why not? we sign known roid users, various bad eggs who dont deserve a chance.

is that not who we are? the last stop for desperate, aging, stupid, self destructive players?

  6. The Mets have long cared about character issues. They do not like bad press.

Milledge was traded in large part due to perceived character issues.
Not even trying to sign Manny was partly due to character.
    Carl Everett?
Paul LoDuca was let go in part due to character issues.

They stay away from “bad guys” frequently.

Yeah, they signed Mota. But I’ll bet Omar would undo that if he could.

The backlash of signing a wife beater would be huge.
    No chance they sign him.

    I lost this yesterday..

Milledge should have been sent down when he a) couldnt play the field b) couldnt keep his mouth shut.

Eventually we traded him and got Schneider and Franceour in return.

Paul – was let go because he got old and could no longer hit. It turns out he was on those drugs that everyone excuses too. His remarks complaining about how his latin teamates did not help either.

Burgos – certainly an upstanding player who we traded for.

Many minor league players who get suspended for drug use.

There are others I have forgotten.

Bottom line, character does not seem to matter much for this team. What does matter is when the team feels embarassed.
