Reading between the lines

Gary Sheffield says he’s feeling fine, but nonetheless was scratched from tonight’s line-up. Could it be the Mets have something brewing? It’s possible. Trouble is the Mets pulled Sheffield off waivers earlier, which means they can’t make a deal for him. If they put him through waivers again and he’s claimed he’s gone and the Mets get nothing.

Gotta wonder.

  1. Get nothing? How about 40 grand they still owe him? Mets can paint part of the lot this Winter with that money!

Mets better watch to the South. I think the Nats made a great move keepiing their acting GM. He dumped Milledge for Morgan and he was in on the Strasburg ssigning. If half their kid pitchers mature and they get a 2nd baseman SS upgrade and with Flores back next year, they could be a very decent team. Plus they have a kid closer now in McDougald who has been lights out, something our 12 million dollar man hasn’t been.
