Omar Minaya and Jeff Wilpon are on currently on a conference call. Some highlights so far:
-Wilpon on why Omar: “We were not a good team before Omar took over. … Omar is our guy. We believe in Omar.”
-Omar is extended through 2012, with club options for 2013 and 2014.
-Minaya said negotiations are on-going with manager Jerry Manuel on an extension.
-Minaya said the team is leaning toward bringing back Carlos Delgado. He has already spoken with his agent.

Can they do a sign-&-trade with Delgado? I don’t theink there’s any way on earth he repeats what he did this year and he’ll be 37 by Opening Day.
SELL HIGH!
CharlieH.: They could, but it would be unlikely. If they dealt Delgado, they still would have the problem of trying to replace him.-JD
Keeping Delgado for ’09 is a no-brainer. Then letting him walk if a replacement (Carp, Evans, Murphy, Duda, Davis) is ready brings us draft picks.
If no one is ready re-sign him for 1 year, as long as he’s productive in ’09.
They could trade him for a decent LF and put Murphy at first. Just a thought…
